Since March 1, 2013 the ERMES consortium has a new partner: the Eidgen√∂ssische Technische Hochschule (ETH), Zurich, Switzerland.

ETH is a top ranking international university in the fields of technology and natural science www.ethz.ch/index_EN

ETH has more than 17,000 students from whom 3700 are doctoral students. More than 400 professors give lectures and carryout research at ETH. The group of Prof. Leuthold at ETH is engaged in research and development of optical communication devices and systems. Particular areas of interest include nonlinear optics, III/V and silicon semiconductors, plasmonics and advanced modulation formats. The research group is currently also involved in the European project Fox-C.

ETH Zurich will provide the ERMES project with the theoretical investigation of the active chip and of the very long cavity, developing a simulation model. The simulation results are used to study the performance of the active chip and extract optimum device design parameters. The findings will then be used to support the fabrication of the active chip
